WCL Portland Releases 2012 Playoff Schedule

07/23/2012

With just over a week left in the regular season, WCL Portland commissioner Rob Vance has released the 2012 playoff schedule.

All six teams will make the playoffs with the regular season determining seeding for the tournament.

The playoffs will begin with two games on Thursday, August 2 as the No. 3 seed plays the No. 6 seed, while the No. 4 seed plays the No. 5 seed. Mt. Hood Community College will host one of the games on Thursday, while the University of Portland will host the other. If the Portland Bucks play on Thursday, then whatever game they’re in will be the one played at Mt. Hood. Both games will begin at 6:05 p.m.

The winners of Thursday will then face the league’s top two seeds in the semifinals on Friday, August 3. The lowest remaining seed after Thursday will play the No. 1 seed, while Thursday’s other winner will play the No. 2 seed. Once again, if the Portland Bucks are still in it, then they’ll play that game at Mt. Hood Community College, while the other game will be played at the University of Portland. Both games will begin at 6:05 p.m.

Finally, the winners on Friday will face each other for the championship on Saturday, August 4. The championship game will be played at the University of Portland’s Joe Etzel Field and begin at 1:05 p.m.

If the playoffs started today the six seeds would break down as follows: No. 1 Lobos, No. 2 Ports, No. 3 Dukes, No. 4 Bucks, No. 5 Toros and No. 6 Stars.

The Lobos have a two game lead on the Ports for the No. 1 seed, but the Ports are just a half game ahead of the Dukes in third and just one game ahead of the Bucks in fourth. All six teams, though, stand within four games of one another, making the 2012 WCL Portland by far the most competitive in the league’s history.
