Oregon State repeats! The Beavers win the College World Series. Jorge Reyes of the Moses Lake Pirates is named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player

Omaha, Nebraska, June 24, 2007 - The Oregon State Beavers of the Pac-10 beat North Carolina of the ACC 9-3 Sunday night to sweep the Tar Heels in the College World Series championship series. With the victory, the defending champs are the first team to repeat in Omaha since the LSU Tigers in 1996-1997.

WCCBL alum Jorge Reyes of the Moses Lake Pirates was named Most Outstanding Player at the 2007 College World Series. Reyes tossed 12 1/3 innings and won both his CWS starts vs. Cal State Fullerton and North Carolina. The freshman from Warden, Washington gave up one run vs. Fullerton and three vs. the Tar Heels in game one of the championship series. The frosh finished the season 7-3 with a 3.10 ERA over 11 starts and 24 appearances. Reyes struck out 64 over 81 1/3 innings pitched and the opposition hit only .239 off Jorge.

Oregon State finished 10-14 in the Pac-10 and was unranked entering the post-season. The Beavers beat host Virginia of the ACC in their regional and swept Michigan of the Big Ten at home in their Super Regional. OSU went on to go undefeated in Omaha beating Fullerton, Arizona State, UC Irvine and UNC twice.

Reyes is scheduled to report to Moses Lake once the Beavers return. He's slated to either start in the Pirates home series with Kelowna June 29-July 1 or back in Corvallis at Goss Stadium vs. the Corvallis Knights on Tuesday, July 3.

In six appearances with the Pirates last summer, Reyes was 0-1 with a 2.19 ERA over 12 1/3 innings.
