Bellevue College frosh right-hander Adrian Sampson of the Bellingham Bells nearly twirled a no-hitter this past Monday vs. the Cowlitz Black Bears at Joe Martin Field. Sampson tossed 9 1/3 innings and did not earn a decision in the Bells' 1-0 thirteen-inning victory. With the score 0-0, Adrian was one out away from pitching nine innings without giving up a hit, but Cowlitz's Brett Thomas of University of Oregon singled to spoil Sampson's bid. Yesterday, Sampson pitched six scoreless innings at Klamath Falls to earn a win as the Bells routed the Gems 11-0. Over two starts and 15 1/3 innings pitched this past week, Sampson only allowed four hits and struck out 18. Adrian is 2-1 on the summer and has posted an impressive 0.29 ERA. This past spring, Sampson led Bellevue College to a NWAACC title.
