Player of the Week Archive Tommy RichardsBend infielder Tommy Richards of Washington State leads Elks to first place standing 
Infielder Tommy Richards of Washington State tore up WCL pitching to lead Bend to a 4-2 week. The sophomore from Bend, Oregon went 11-for-24 with 12 RBI. Richards also blasted two home runs, doubled twice and tripled. Tommy leads the West Coast League in RBI with 15 and is second in the league in batting with a .429 average. Both Richards homers were at Goss Stadium vs. the Elks' division rival the Corvallis Knights. Bend took two of three at Corvallis and then won their WCL home opening series by taking two of three from the Moses Lake Pirates. The Elks (7-4) are tied for first place in the WCL West with Kitsap. This past spring, Richards appeared in 25 games and went 9-for-30 with a double and 5 RBI for the Cougars. This is Tommy's third season with Bend. Richards is the son of Elks' owner Jim Richards and brother of ex-Elks' infielder Danny Richards.
