Kelowna outfielder Nick Freitas of Southern Utah led the Falcons to a 3-3 week. The surging Falcons took two of three games at Spokane to move into second place in the East. Kelowna (19-19) has won 9 of their last 12 games and finish the season at home against the last-place Moses Lake Pirates. Freitas went 9 for 26 for the week with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 8 RBI. The senior-to-be from Honolulu, Hawaii, leads the WCCBL in home runs with 6 and is hitting .279 with 21 RBI and 10 stolen bases. Freitas hit .315 this past spring at Southern Utah and led the Thunderbirds in homers with 16, runs with 60, total bases with 128, and stolen bases with 34. Nick was named first-team All-Summit League. Freitas won the home run derby, edging his Southern Utah teammate Bucky Aona, at the 2008 WCCBL All-Star Game.
