Bellingham Bells pitcher Stephen Fife of University of Utah and Moses Lake outfielder Steve Tinoco (pictured) of Long Beach State were named WCCBL co-Players of the Week for July 2-8. Fife opened the week with a masterful performance vs. Kitsap. The sophomore transfer from Everett C.C. tossed 8 scoreless innings and allowed only 4 hits while walking none and striking out 8 to earn the 2-0 win. Fife is 2-0 on the season and has posted a miniscule 0.69 ERA over 4 starts and 26 innings pitched. Fife's walked 8 and struckout 21 and the opposition is hitting a paltry .184 vs. Stephen. For the Utes this spring, Fife went 6-2 over 17 appearances and 6 starts and posted a 4.43 ERA. Tinoco hit safely in all six games this week to extend his hitting streak to 10. Tinoco went 10 for 24 with 2 doubles. Tinoco is hitting .347 with a team leading 14 runs and 4 doubles. The frosh outfielder made 22 starts for the Dirtbags this past spring and hit .326 (86 at bats). Both Fife and Tinoco were All-Star selections and will play in the league's All-Star game in Bellingham on Tuesday, July 17.
