In attempting to explain just how the West Coast League fits in among
the other major college summer wood-bat leagues, we refrain from simply
saying we're the best. Every league says they're the best. We can,
however, tell you why our league is so appealing to coaches and players
alike.
In many ways the West Coast League is the Cape Cod League of the West.
We play in a beautiful area of the country and feature dramatic settings
similar to that of the Cape. Well, we actually feel the Northwest is
even more scenic than Cape Cod. Throw in bus rides through the Cascade
Mountains and trips into gorgeous British Columbia, Canada, and playing
in the West Coast League is an experience to be treasured for a
lifetime.
The West Coast League (WCL) reminds many of the Northwoods League and
the Coastal Plain League. Our league is also minor league-like. June
through August, a demanding schedule, travel and wood bats test
prospects, preparing them for the pros. Coaches and players live with
host families and play in front of large crowds in a range of intimate
ballparks from old minor league parks to state-of-the-art collegiate
stadiums.
Our member teams recruit players nationwide and are committed to
developing aspiring pros. No college summer league has ever had as many
drafted student-athletes and alumni reaching the big leagues so early in
its history. The level of play is challenging for even the best college
players.
WCL teams are dedicated to enriching their communities, and our member
communities are devoted to their hometown teams. The environment is
nurturing, the atmosphere thrilling and the setting as good as it gets.
Experience the West Coast League, fond memories are made here.
